Calzaghe vs Jones should have been in the UK

The fight would have filled 50000 the millenium stadium easily! Instead its New York and ticket sales have apparently been poor, does anybody know how many have been sold or likely to be sold?

I think cos its MSG that Joe wanted to fight there. Its a fitting venue for his finale.

But no doubt it would have been great over here. The atmosphere and pre-fight build up would be immense!

I agree, it should have been in overseas, but Joe wanted it here.

Roy was offered to go over there and also brought it up for a rematch fight over there.

Joe wants credit for fighting in America and not only in Europe so he wanted to go there and beat Roy in his own country. If he had it in Cardiff then people would just criticize him for not fighting overseas enough.

a fitting arena and one that imo needed a big bout. alot of the talk has been about las vegas recenlt simply because it brings in more money but its nice to see someone pay homage to the heritage and tradition of the sport.

a legendary arena for 2 modern day legends.

I wouldn't have. I personally think some of this stuff is overrated. Kostya Tszyu made a living fighting away from Russia but yet, how much credit is he given. And Lennox, he is from England...fought out of Canada and then came to the States. He held it together. Of course, a good support system is a must, which he likes to point to his Mother. Lewis was a cool Champ no matter what people say. It's funny seeing a 6'5, 245 pound HW Champion turn into a *****-cat when he is around his Mother. That used to crack me up.

its not close to being sold out and it wont be anywhere close to being sold out on fight night.

The arena holds 21,000 peoples, id guess MAYBE half that attend, probably around 12,000 people.... which is pathetic, but reality unfortunetly.

You can thank Joe and Roy, who are promoting this event, for the horrible job they did, including the OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced tickets ($250 for a seat waaaaaaaaay in the back)
