It's unlicensed boxing. Gypsies are prone to get involved into these fights. Guess they need the money plus they love the infamy of being a bad ass bare knuckle fighter.

In later life he turned to acting here he is in lock stock and two smoking Barrells.

Lenny was a bareknuckle fighter, unlicenced boxer and offered protection to various nightclubs, pubs and a fair amount of criminals too. Then he was an actor I think he's in fifth element with Bruce Willis too. lol
