my neighbor is a samoaen and hes pretty big. in muscle wise and i sparred with him a few times **** i was afraid to hit him cause he didnt have ne headgear on but when i did hit him with alright power he barely mved i mean his head snaped back but thats all. well it was when i first started boxin also

I agree with what Brooklyn & Jimmy was sayin'. A man's neck, legs, back, & stance all affect his ability to be knock down with a clean shot to the chin, as well as their ability to recover. The gloves definitely play a part in the knock down ability but how many ounces to make it a standard is yet to be seen. Now Can U Dig Dat!!!!

If you look at David Tua, he hardly gets hit in the chin, only around the top of his head, no clean punches hit him. I'd say that's more good defense than a good chin. Tyson was like that, but once he takes a clean punch he gets a little wobbled.
Someone like Mayorga has a good chin because he actually gets hit there, Gatti and Morales too.

So, I think alot of boxers who some of you guys feel have a iron chin is just good defense. These guys include:
          -De La Hoya
          -Toney
          -Tyson
          -Hopkins
-Tua (probaby has a good chin, but never seen him hit clean)

Holyfield had a dam good chin back in the day as well.

Toney, Pretty Boy and Winky are tops on my list today..Toney just doesnt take too many shots, Pretty Boy doesnt get hit at all....how the heck can you go an entire fight without getting hit..GATTI, Winky keeps his hands up chin tucked at all times..

I think its probably better to block punches with your hands rather than with your head, but hey, to each his own I guess.

well you want both duh ...but you can win a fight just with great defence alone, you cant win a fight by being hit
