My gf's family is from Australia and none of them were familiar with Darchinyan, but they're more soccer and aussie football fans. How popular is he there after his latest victory?

Honestly, after Jeff Fenech lost to Nelson in the rematch, Aussie boxing has never really been the same. Everyone loved Fenech. It seemed to just die out after that. Tszyu brought it back and most Aussie's loved him as much for his humble attitude and laid back personality as for his brilliance in the ring. Vic is completely the opposite though.

Doubtful Vic gets to the same plateau as KT did, but he's got a chance to really blow up if he can get a fight wit Montiel and win it.

I don't if australia is big for boxing. I remembered when I was talking online to Australian people about Michael Katsidis and no one knew he was in that country. Katsidis is more known in New Jersey then his home country. So sad!!!

That is just it bro. We don't seem to take too kindly to that kind of attitude out here. It is one of the key reasons as to why he hasn't really caught on here.

isn't it kinda sad i'm a yank, and still know why vic has not caught on in a place where i have never been? it would not matter where he went in his case. he's such a prick i think he is just unlikable by anyone regardless of where he goes. poor bastard.
