That kind of an injury will make him blind if ever the fight goes on.....

yes Donaire is very slow during that fight but when he throws his punch, you can clearly see how Mthalane rocks ups with those power shots of Donaire.

Dude ever since the Hatton-Mayweather fight there are always seems to be some kind of controversy with Joe Cortez. Maybe it's because of that fight that the magnifying glass is on him constantly but it seems like every fight he refs some **** happens. Instead of blaming Donaire for "swindling" Cortez, let's look at the common denominator, how the **** bout it? I would hope Donaire would be willing to give a rematch though. I chalk his lackluster performance up to ring rust.

A lot of what Durandt is saying is true. I clearly remember seeing Donaire gesture to Cortez to look at Mthalane's eye, which he did...and the doctor stopped the fight. Mthalane was gutted and cried in his corner. He wanted to fight on, while Donaire was ecstatic when the fight had been called off . Mthalane walked through a lot of heavy artillery early on, and was coming on more and more as the fight went on. Donaire was in a fight, and he knew it. I hope there is a rematch.

Cortez didn't stop the fight, the referee did.

If Donaire was staying at 112 then I'd agree, a rematch would be in order. But he isn't, he's headed north to 115 to fight Arce. I don't see a rematch happening though I feel Mthalane should get a shot at the vacant title.

There is no chance in hell Mthalane could have won that fight coz he refused to mix it up with Donaire. Stop kidding yourselves and yes he should have continued crying because unless Donaire's two hands are removed due to a car accident there is no way in this lifetime Mthalane could have won that fight period.
Get real... r u serious? Mthalane threw less and landed more.. He was giving Donaire Problems and had Donaires face marked up and his eyes swollen. Donaire did tell Cortez about the cut and was happy as hell that the fight was stopped cuase that would have been a very tuff fight for him.

Donaire will move up in weight after this fight for more cash, which is fine. Mthlane better as hell get to fight for that vacant title though or something is wrong. That fight left me feeling bad because Mthlane would have won that fight. We now know Donaire had a broken finger and the South African was blocking the majority of what he was throwing. Very slick boxer, I hope to see him again. That was making out to be the best fight of Dec 1 after Arce-Garcia ended so fast.(Unless you were watching the guys at 140 on Yahoo Sports, that was quite the action fight)

Again, it was the doctor who stopped the fight not Joe Cortez. I don't like Cortez at all but let us try to be fair here and get the facts straight.
