Exactly, if I were in his situation, I'd set friendship behind me and do whatever it takes to win even if he gets dq'd for his actions. He can not let himself get humiliated again.
I'm with MacChamp I really want him to win for some reason because he's such a huge underdog, but he just isn't good enough and to cap it off he's now completely gun shy.
After jeff lacy lost to joe calzaghe, i downloaded a lot of jeff lacy's fights... It's so sad to see how talented he was before he met Calzaghe. Jeff Lacy has one of the most dangerous uppercuts I have ever seen. But he needs to learn to box better and throw jabs quicker.
Was Lacy one dimensional? No doubt, but he is still a talented fighter in my opinion.
Lacy is terrible technically.
Against any form of talented boxer he will be battered.
He is prime example that brawn cannot beat brain.
He has no Jab footwork or heart for that matter.
Whilst Lacy might not be much of a talented boxer his heart cant be denied.
It took heart for him not to quit,to stand and carry on when Calzaghe beat the **** out of him.
Before the fight with Calzaghe It has to be said that I didn't like him at all.
Even though he lost the fight the fact is that he didn't quit and was still standing after 12 rounds of getting his ass beat.
That earned him my respect because even though he aint much of a boxer he showed his heart and Raw Tuffness as a man.You cant teach that to anyone.
Taylor has dealt with the best rough houser in the game, Bernard Hopkins, I doubt Lacy would be able to do anything to rough Taylor up after that.
Excellent post.
Also just because Jeff Lacy "has bigger muscles" doesnt mean he is gonna be stronger.
Rough housing will make the fight uglier, but it also might get him hurt worse.
Should jeff lacy be a dirty fighter to beat Taylor? Lacy can out-muscle taylor. Lacy has bigger muscles clearly and if he holds and hits taylor, and fights dirty. He can pull the upset off in my book.
Pull a ricky hatton!!!
Not surprising you're pulling for the guy who would make Calzaghe's resume look better.
Although it's somewhat di****able that you're advocating for him to use rough-house tactics to get the win.
It doesn't matter anyway, as he won't be able to do it. You're underestimating the physical strength of Taylor at 168 and the height/size advantage he will have in this fight.
Below is Taylor at 164. Add 4 lbs of muscle to that physique and he's not giving up much, if anything, to Lacy.
