      floyd....there's a difference in smothering your opponent and making them completely miss from point blank range

        yea but something also has to be said about fighting for 20yrs. and not being cut or knockout in a single fight

          Yeah I would agree with this. Bernard is sneaky good in there defensively but you gotta go back to Pernell before you find a guy with the defensive skills of Mayweather.

            indeed...its commendable that he can fight at that level but with that being said, your original question was 'who is better defensively'...and for this fight fan, its floyd...its easier to avoid punches when you're clinching your opponent and have one arm wrapped up for half the fight

                  Mayweather is better at 30 than Hop was.

                  We will never know about Mayweather at 43, when the reflexes are not there anymore.

                    Exactly, Hopkins' reflexes should be much slower right now and he's still very hard to hit flush, it's amazing.
