Juan Diaz is in real trouble...unless....

First off I have to say that I really love watching the Baby Bull fight however I think it is apparent that he has some problems and if not fixed he will be the next David Reid or Nanado Vargas.

Diaz is a guy that has a work rate second to none in this sport which makes him unique and fun too watch, however the kid is powerless against top level guys. I think Lorcy and Sim are really good fighters and Juan should be given all the credit in the world for beating these guys with relative ease, but trouble looms....Juan has no business fighting JL CAstillo, Diego Corrales, Julio Diaz(maybe), Juan Lazcano. These guys will break him down and hurt him in a kind of fight that changes your career(Reid v. Trinidad).

Juan has options, here's what he should do, lose weight! The guy has love handles and he weighs 135. If Juan wants money and wants to stay in this game at an elite level then 130 is the exact move he needs/must make. I give Juan a shot against Morales, Barerra-if Manny moved up who knows...point is these guys are bigger money fights for Juan and they are 5pounds south. If he stays at 135 he will get beat and beaten badly, If he moves down to 130 and can somehow convince Morales to fight, he will be on payperview and make a couple million. No fighter at 135 can offer that to Juan, all the Castillo's/Corrales/Lazcano's of the wold can offer is a slow beating. Juan take my advice and lose weight, get to 130 and then thank me for it when you are on payperview, don't take my advice and your wide swinging, feather fisted, courageous 21 year old self is in big trouble.

good post. I like Diaz and I think he could possibly be a pretty good champion. He should get a strength and conditioning coach to work on his power. He should be knocking guys out with all the punches he throws. I don't know, maybe he can improve his accuracy to help out with that. That's why Mayweather got a lot of ko's at lightweight. He didn't have much power but the speed and accuracy of his punches wore his opponents out and stopped them in the process. I don't think he can complete with a Corrales or Castillo type right now, but I like how he keeps improving his level of comp.

I think Diaz beats Julio Diaz. He's got no chin . But it would be a great fight. Their styles contrast very well.

Diaz better take the Camacho Jr. route and fight a bunch of journeyman for the next year or two and allow Corrales and Castillo to either get knocked off by each other or move up in weight.

A conditioning coach isnt' going to improve Diaz's power. If he doesn't have it now, he's never going to have it. you're born with it. you can have better technique but either you have the power or you dont. But it would help his physical strength. Corrales or Castillo touches him he's going to sleep though. He doesnt have enough firepower to keep them off

I dont think the kid can go down to 130 and be strong.

i think he should stay where he is, Corrales will likely move up in weight, and Juanito should stay put and improv his technique, especially his punching accuracy and coordination, he may not be a big puncher but with his high work rate and more targeting of vital areas, the liver, temple, chin, etc. he can become a more effective puncher. The kid is so young, if he spends his time in the gym he can only get better

Nice win. However Diego would murder this kid. Diaz simply lacks the power. He lands flush shots that do damage but fail to HURT opponents. It was a good defense and I refuse to take anything away from it. But to say he's raedy for Chico is worse than saying Cotto is ready for Mayweather

Then the question is, does he want Baby Bull first, or Corrales?
