    Who HASN'T been exposed??

Over the last twenty years, name some fighters that never got "exposed". Guys that lived up to the hype. Maybe they got beat, but never dominated until they were old/shot.

Mayweather was never exposed or beat...Was a hype machine that alot of people wanted to see beaten but never was, he was as good as his hype.

Bernard was at the top of my list. So we've got Bernard and Mayweather in the last 20 years. Wow.

If the fighter was dominated in his later years, that's ok. I'm wondering about hyped/top fighters who in their "prime/good" years fought good-great competition and didn't get dominated/"exposed"

depends on what you mean by exposed. cause if you lost cause you're too old you didn't really get exposed, you just got old.

imho to be exposed means that you suck but no body knew because you didn't fight anyone worth a damn.

if you're an elite fighter you can't reallly be exposed. elite fighters should be allowed to lose a few fights without being called exposed.

cotto was not exposed as a ****ty fighter by losing to margarito.

Read the opening post again... If they got old or "shot" from too many wars, I don't consider that exposed.

Cotto wasn't exposed... I'd agree. Pavlik exposed, Mijares exposed. But this thread isn't about that. It's about top fighters who fought good-great competition and didn't get dominated at the top or close to the top of their game. Not necessarily not beat, but not dominated. I don't know if I can make it much clearer than that.

Don't say Lennox Lewis: His first loss to McCall was from a bomb of a punch that connected right on the chin while Lennox was swinging as well...he didn't see the punch. McCall is a big, strong, MF, with decent power.

His loss to Rahman was from another great punch landing flush on the chin. Plus, and I know people say it's an "excuse, but Lewis wasn't prepared Mentally and Physically for that fight. Say what you will that he was still near the top of his game when he lost, but any fighter that doesn't prepare Mentally and Physically for a fight, no matter what point in their career, doesn't favor a positive outcome. We saw what happened when he got the rematch, which is proof enough to me what being prepared does for a fight.

I'm really sick of people putting down Lennox without looking at the facts.
I still don't understand how he is not in people's top 10 Heavyweights.

And I don’t want to hear he fought Holyfield and for Tyson after they were past their prime because Lewis wanted those fights. Holyfield was busy with the wars with Bowe... and Tyson, he leaped off the mountain after Spinks; that's not Lennox's fault. And Bowe, that’s a win in my book for Lewis because Bowe backed down from the challenge.

Vitali: Lewis was OLD and still won.

Lewis was never exposed IMO. Though training/preperation/discipline is part of boxing as much as natural skill. He started to get a little old and pulled out of the game. Never was exposed.
