well, in 24/7 you never see Joe spar...so we should assume he didnt spar for his preparation?
I wish RJJ would spar with better sparring partners

I'm not a Jones fan...
I just remember you getting pissy about Cory Spinks and Vernon Forrest back whenever. And now you throw some random generalizing Jones hate into the mix.
Fighting Toney and Ruiz were most risk than pretty much any fighter takes in their career.Comment

i'm sure he brough in some better fighters for the later sparring. it's cool he used locals, and once he was ready i'm sure he stepped up to better talent.Comment

i wish i could have sparred roy. i'm a 178 novice amateur too! it would have been horrible prep for roy in getting ready for an elite, pro fighter like calzaghe, but getting whooped by roy would be way cooler than an autograph!
thats probably how the "local boys" felt too.
yeah... roy should have brought in some fast southpaws like dirrell to spar for this one. i hope this was just what they showed for the cameras, and that he had some serious guys in there behind closed doors. at the very least, i hope he went like 15 rounds switching in new bums every 2 or 3 rounds, so at least they were fresh bums...Comment

yea. thats why in all of these 24/7 episodes, the majority of footage is on the most worthless bag of all- the speed bag, haha.... the serious training is behind closed doors. im surprised they showed any sparring at all really....Comment

When I used to go to camp with RJ he always had a good group of guys to work with...I mean, Reggie Johnson, Lindell Holmes, Buster Drayton, Booker T. Word, Cornelius Carr, David Izon, etc etc etc... plus u have to realize that there are a TON of boxers out there who you have never heard -and maybe dont perform up to capability on fight night- of that are very very tough work in the gym.Comment
