Donaire Breaks Finger, Darchinyan Rematch Unlikely

Nonito Donaire wasn't as explosive as in the Vic Darchinyan fight or as punishing as he was against Luis Maldonado, but a win is a win. Donaire made his second, and likely final, defense of the IBF flyweight title Saturday night over South African Moruti Mthalane, clearing his obligation to the sanctioning body and paving the way to bigger fights in the super flyweight division. Not surprising, he was wincing when they tried to take his glove off, I thought something was wrong with his hand.

Credit to Arce if he is willing to travel to the Philippines to fight Donaire, although I don't think the location will influence the result.

this is bull****, I think the rematch with donaire needs to be made. It would be the most marketable fight for Vic right now.

I like Vic. But damn. When you lose like that there is rarely need for a rematch.

It would be like if Darchinyan gave Mijares a rematch. He already dominated him and KO'd him.

The rematch would probably be closer though, I'll admit it.

True, but the Vic that lost to Donaire could never beat Mijares. When have we ever seen Vic box before?

Donaire is very good he is tough and very powerful and i think he only gets better. I think Vic could land that shot but style wise Donaire is bad for him. A few more good fights for both of them would build up the hype. Peace

I think they are overrating Donaire a bit. He just got a good punch in, that Vic couldnt recover from, just like Rahman caught lewis. If the rematch happends, Vic will destroy donaire, Vic have lots of power, and now with decent defense and good boxing, thats mortal. Vic KO 8 Donaire!!

Hold on though, Vic was being clearly out boxed and had not won more than a round before the brutal KO. Donaire was separating himself from Vic with pure class. No doubt he is better now, but even with the Mijares victory, I don't see anything that Donaire couldn't time and KO again.

FTR, I am a big fan of Vic's.

Donaire did not just land one punch for a victory...

He was outboxing Darchinyan, and had him hurt in round 3 as well, remember?
