Would Floyd's career and legacy have been different if he won Olympic Gold?

Would he have been matched up with different opponents?

More demand early in his career?

    Remembered differently?

What difference would a gold make??? Top rank didnt really protect him that bad early on anyway but they might have milked the "Gold" a bit more.

he probably would've gotten more of a promotional push, more time in the media and made a little more money.

Oscar got a million dollar bonus and was rushed along quickly. He basically walked into superstardom. Ray Leonard got a big bonus and a lot of publicity, Pepsi commercials, TV time.

Floyd had to work his way up and basically became a superstar late in his career.

I think, given his outspoken demeanor, a Gold Medal would have made him a star a lot earlier. Makes me wonder if he would have been pushed into more demanding fights instead of taking on that string of bums he fought on HBO from '03 to '06.

floyd wanted no part of that.they brought both oscar and leonard to meet him after arum signed him, and he was stand offish to both.he wanted no part of that.he wanted to seem more real than a smiling soda selling idiot.
