Pick your HW Champion to Bring Back the HW Division...

Which of these choices could/would bring back the HW division back into the spotlight...as well as someone you would want to see and represent the sport.

ALL FIGHTERS ARE IN THEIR PRIME/PEAK

Example: Tyson with Rooney...maxed out at Spinks; Ali, prior to being forced out...think Williams fight

The Klit brothers represent whoever is on the scene now...which includes Haye.

Your best bet is David Haye. Dude is one of the most exciting fighter in the division and will bring some attention on his crusade thru. Besides him man Arreola might make it happen with his strong power buh he got weight issues and probably bad stamina but he really hasn't been tested and we'll see hm against Walker. Also a latin-american so from a p.r. level it's gonna be great ya kno? Besides those two Odlanier Solis or Denis Boystov maybe but ya never can tell if up an comers live up to the hype. besides those 4 dudes I got nothin, jus a bunch of borin Klitschkos.

      I like the Klitschkos.

I think they're better men and better champions than the likes of Mike Tyson the ear-biting rapist, or the loud-mouthed poor sportsman Muhammed Ali aka Cassius Clay.

Yeah, if I had to pick one that I would say could do it, it would be Haye...but I don't know how well he will handle being hit by someone like Wlad. And it's not just his chin, he's not so great at taking body shots, but maybe with the added weight he will be better.

Arreoloa: I don't know, I'm not sold on him, especially not for what the post is for.

Tyson under the guidance of Cayton, Jacobs, and Rooney didn't do that. He was doing Pepsi and Anti-drug commercials for God-sakes (LOL)

PRIME: All fighters in their PRIME/PEAK

For the Klits, they are cool as people, but for some reason they are not making a big enough impact. I really thought Wlad, if promoted well enough, would have made a bigger impact but I guess the losses killed that...or maybe it is an American bias.

They are not making as big an impact as they should, because many people in the US sports media like Kevin (Arse) Iole and Teddy Atlas have always been so negative about them.

They talk about the losses but not their wins, and even present false information to discredit them. No matter what Wlad or Vitali do, Iole for example will never write a positive word about him after a fight.

In my local newspaper, there was only a small article about the Vitali vs. Peter fight.

              It said

              1) Vitali was dominating because of his reach advantage

              2) Peter quit when the scorecards were read after the 8th round and

              3) Vitali had been inactive for almost three years.

              But the facts were:

              1) Vitali had only a 3" reach advantage. Consider that Lewis had a 4" reach advantage over Vitali, a 13" reach advantage over Tyson, and a 14" reach advantage over Tua - the reports of those fights never mentioned that.

              2) Peter's promoter Dino Duva said the decision to quit had nothing to do with the scorecards, he said his fighter was getting beaten up too badly and he wanted to salvage him for future fights.

              3) Vitali had been inactive for nearly four years.

Ali would be great. Get people talking and interested in the sport again. Tyson would be good as well.

Tyson all the way. No Robin Givens this time.

Promotion helps, no question, but the Fighter is his own Promotion. This is why I think the fight Vitali quit hurt him and the Losses by KO for Wlad was really bad. Wlad's fighting style now isn't nearly as exciting as it once was, but he doesn't have much choice.

I do think its also because they are not "American" but it's not impossible to break through those barriers. We see it in the MLB, NBA, Tennis...as well as Movie Stars that are not American and make it. It just takes a bit of time, talent, and appeal.

The Vitali win was good. For a fighter to come off that long of a layoff and win a title is a good achievement. Maybe not as good had the Champion been a Lennox Lewis caliber fighter, but good none-the-less.

I think my Paper read "Vitali stops Peter in 8"....or something on those lines.

If it were someone of the names I mentioned in the poll however, it would have been on the Front page of the Sports section, if not the Front Page of the Paper.

I do think this is another thing: Their age. Americans tend to like to see you grow as a fighter and cheer for you on the way to the title. Young is Good.
