What fight result was more shocking in the past month?

Was it Hopkins mauling of Pavlik or Darchinyan making one of the best boxers in the world look like a stepping stone.

it's a really tough call. Pavlik was being so hyped that losing to a 43 year old just makes him look pathetic. Mijares was called a master boxer by most people in boxing. I'd only seen him fight three times and wasn't that impressed. However, I knew Vic was a pretty limited fighter, so I figured Mijares would have an EASY time with him. Right now, I think it's gotta be Vic

hmm.. i think while Pavlik was the bigger name, a lot of knowledgable boxing fans did predict B Hop pulling off a win (although only a few brave people predicted it to be as one-sided in favour of B Hop as it was)... Mijares was seen as a more credible fighter, respected for his pure skills rather than his likability factor and mainstream appeal and was actually KTFO and nearly blown out the ring in the very first round, so i would have to go with the Darch win beng the more shocking result

'08 certainly has been the year of the underdog

Well in terms of overall hype, definitely the Pavlik loss. HBO was making him huge and calling him the new face of white boxing america. Then he gets outclassed by Hopkins although to Pavlik's credit, he did move up again in weight to face Hopkins when he already looked bad at 168lbs. He was clearly out of his comfort zone. But as far as shocking, I'd say Vic beating Mijares since I thought Mijares would box circles around Vic and make Vic look downright ******. Vic shocked the hell out of me that he could be patient and deliver the bombs at the right moment. He had Mijares completely confused and taken out of the fight. His usual jabbing and nonstop moving with a highwork rate that dominated Arce was completely gone in this fight. So overall in the grandscheme of things, Pavlik losing sux, but in boxing world of knowing the who who's, I'd say Vic dominating Mijares.
