Yes he sells, but it's not on his performances or who he's fighting. He's dad is an absolute legend especially among Mexican fans. Growing up my dad liked him and so did all my uncles and cousins and I followed suit. I would like to see Jr do well, but he's sold seats and PPV's on his dad's name. Plain and simple.

The Chavez Jr fan is like our version of the Mayweather fan lol...They're all just casual fans. Plus boxing isn't even that big in Mexico, so you mostly got a grip of fans that want to see Jr just because he's Julio's son.

people support him for who he is, what's wrong with that? It's no secret mexicans love boxing and chavez is a legend to many a hero to many. People have seen chavez jr on hbo since he used to walk into the ring with his dad it's no suprise he has a nice fan base. I guess people hate that he has a fanbase like that lol it's sad.

what an idiot do casuals pay 40 to watch a ppv? do they travel to las vegas to watch a fight? casuals barely pay 50 for two big name fighters fighting. Your post is full of hate, mexican hate as you been known to post alot of mexican hate on these boards. I feel for you

No there is no problem with it, but at the same time we also got to acknowledge that he's just an average fighter at this point and there are prospects in that division that are more skilled and better. I mean do you honestly think he could beat somebody like Angulo or Kirkland?

at this point angulo no, kirkland i don't know. Chavez is still young though. Did you see last nights fight? He looked very good and his defense was impressive at times! Angulo is obviously the best looking prospect in the division but even he has his flaws, flat footed, gets hit alot, slow....chavez jr in my opinion is going to be the best technical fighter out of all these prospects. The way he goes up stairs then hits you to the body is a nice thing to see. The left hook to the body is killer, you can see the look on vandas face everytime he got hit with him that it didn't feel too good.

on a side note denver needs to win today!!!!!!!!!! WOrried about the defense without the baily brothers as if we weren't already garbage on that end.

See IMO Angulo is the best out of all the prospects with Kirkland and Vanes behind him. Actually Yuri Foreman could possibly beat them all, but he's a dread to watch and he might have to at least take a few more chances so he doesn't put people to sleep when he fights. Then also Jorge Julio who's fighting at 154. All those guys I think can beat Jr. Then technically Im not quite sure. Angulo doesn't move well, but his punches are straight and on the mark. Kirkland's wild and Vanes in his last few fights has looked better. Julio even though he's a puncher isn't the typical Columbian puncher and can box, then Foreman he's all technique and movement. Technique is good, but what's gonna happen to Jr when those guys back him up. I didn't see him fight Vanda last night, but I'll probably check it out to see how he looked and it might change my mind, but if Vanda is the stiffest competition he's faced so far I can't really say if he's got a shot against those other guys.

As for the Broncos, I think they can win, well at least I hope. Since it's at home they should play well, but with the Defense sucking before and then now with Champ out it doesn't look good.

                  not hate.. just reality.
he is nothing like his dad.. will never be like his dad.
he is over hyped, over due for an actual fight and still hasn't learned to walk when he should already be running.
he is going on near 40 fights and still I haven't seen ****.
other mexican fighters with no amateur experience are already on the big stage at this point.
he will never be what they want him to be.. a journeyman, if even that is all I see Jr. amounting too.

not really his fault.. his pops should have made him fight in the ams before throwing him into the lions.

MExicans love chavez sr and jr does that make you mad a little bit? Do you get mad because you're not able to get people to support you like that?
how does having a fanbase make you a great fighter?

well to be fair vanes, angulo, kirkland, and chavez are all fighting the same type of competition. They all have their flaws and they are all still learning. Chavez has more fights due to his lack of amatuer experience of course. Also chavez is ahead of all them when it comes to fan base and promoting and i think that's what bothers people but it's reality. He was born into this sport it's not his fault he want's to try to follow in his dad footsteps. My mother loves chavez jr and was looking foward to watching this fight and it's because he's the son of chavez which my mom also loved. We're going to support him and wish him the best. If he lost his next fight nothing would change we would still support him. I hope next year he can step it up. He did say even though he still has alot to learn that he wants to step up and fight for a world title. check out last nights fight and tell me what you think.
