Style problems in the Mijares-Darchinyan fight

Everyones using this as an excuse. I'd say Mijares lost this fight because he did not come out with the right strategy and was not mentally ready for the fight. He had that smirk on his face the whole first round and did not expect to be in a tough fight. He didn't jab, didn't counter and only moved back everytime Darchinyan punched trying to block. Darchinyan had no respect for his power and was able to let loose. Mijares was able to partially blow those blows but it just wasnt good enough he was getting roughed up in there...

another problem was the way he moved into those uppercuts and didnt fight tall.. something he could easily fix in a rematch.

what i dont understand is that mijares is taller with a longer reach. i thought before the fight if anything the styles of the two would give cristian the advantage. he would ****ing land his jab all day and counter with it (like he did against munoz) against darchinyan and i picked him winning a wide UD (hoping for a KTFO)

I hate excuses. Maybe the reason Mijares lost was because of how much Vic improved his defense

Mijares fought a very bad tactical fight, he played right into Darchinyan's hands, he decided to brawl with a brawler, that's not something a natural boxer/counterpuncher should do. He made a lot of tactical errors in the fight that could be corrected, if he can improve his tactics I would pick him in a rematch, his natural counterpunching style would give Darchinyan a lot of problems, for some reason he didn't fight that way.

remember Irene Pacheco ......how can you not? One of the ATG flyweights!

He had more of an advantage style wise than Mijares...what happened there?..once Vic got his head together in that fight, he kicked his ass.

i think the fact is that Vic really is a raging machine and he is not given anywhere near as much respect as he deserves.

He has one blemish on his record - let's see if he can fix that.

Vic improves boxing with his trash talk - which is always done with respect and never any personal insuls.

What power, that was the problem. Darchinyan is nicknamed the Raging Bull for a reason. He has a stubborn, tenacious character, and when you have a very aggressive fighter in front of you ie Tyson, Hamed, you've gotta give them something to respect. Mijares is feather-fisted and you can't win with pillows, maybe in the Olympics, but not in professional prize fighting!

I just think he was bankin on bein the boxer undressin the raw puncher, as is the case 8 outta 10 in boxing. He was overconfident and wrong and so were many others, includin me. When he couldn't technically outclass Vic, I think he got discouraged, which made it even easier for Vic to dominate since he'd taken Mijares' heart.
