If Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe were in the same weight class who do you think

If Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe were in the same weight class who do you think would win?

i think if these two fighters were in the same weight division one would obviously move up or down to avoid each other. these two fighters would avoid each other by any cost. calzaghe is a skill boxer and I take nothing away from him. but he has showed me that he has boxing skills and speed and power. I would never pick one of these fighters to dominate the other but the odds would be in favor of mayweather going into the fight.
    ___________

mayweather...floyd is much more skillful and experienced and he has a much stronger chin.
    ___________

Floyd wins with a check-hook TKO.
    ___________

If you mean same weight as in both naturally the same weight ie no moving up/down to meet i think it would be a very close fight, i actually couldn't pick a winner. They are both so good at what they do. Calzaghe decent defence and great handspeed and workrate. Mayweather defence master and very accurate. They also both know the ring like the back of their hands, it would be nice to see how their styles differ in this respect. The recipe is there if you want to see all the positive attributes of the sport of boxing. Two ring technicians going at it. I think the result would be a Split/ or very close unanimous decision in favour of either fighter.

If you mean same weightclass after joe moving down and Floyd moving up to a comprimise at say Middleweight. Joe would be too strong for Floyd, like Floyd was too strong for Hatton.

I hate to say this., but pbf should rule that bout. Yes JC is an animal but this point in floyd's career, he seems to be invincible. I hate mayweather but it is a fact, he is the king of lb4lb right now and the moneymaker in this sport.

I think Floyd has proved that he is a special fighter and he would rule any division in the sport. If Floyd was a heavyweight, he would be the most famous athlete in the world.

Its still very hard to imagine because Joe is still SO much taller than Floyd... all things being equal except height I think you have to give it to Calzaghe. I think floyd is just too short. And Calzaghe is skilled enough to take advantage of the height.

Wow.... Calzaghe and Mayweather at the same weight with no ill-effects!? Hmmm..... that's a really tough call. I actually think each man's strengths and weakness would be countered by each other's own strenght and weakness. It would make for one hell of a fight. Maybe...... just maybe I would go with Mayweather, but I'm not too confident in that pick.

I think I'd go with Floyd. I'd rather see Pacquiao vs Calzaghe in a head to head P4P matchup. That would be exciting. I'd take Joe in that one though.

I think though, that I would be more willing to take a prime Floyd, the way he fought at 130, over Calzaghe nowadays. I think the Floyd of today may be outworked a bit much, but he could also land the cleaner shots. Close call nowadays.

Calzaghe has a fantastic chin and Floyd is not known as a puncher. Calzaghe would force Floyd to fight at a pace he's never fought at.

Calzaghe vs Hopkins= Calzaghe vs Mayweather

Calzaghe winning by a controversial manner which some feel like he didn't hit the fighter clean enough.

          From a Floyd Mayweather article:

GM: Besides being a great fighter, a smart businessman, I know you are a boxing fan also. If you had to match you with someone who would give you your toughest fight, who would that be? In the current landscape right now.

FM: Not in the current. I’m going to say Aaron Pryor and Pernell Whitaker. Them would be my toughest fights.

          R#2: Sugar Ray Leonard?

FM: I can’t really say. Sugar Ray is a helluva fighter. But if I had to say two fighters I would say Aaron Pryor and Pernell Whitaker.

R#2: Why would Aaron Pryor give you a tough fight?

FM: (Floyd and I exchange glances and laugh) He was unbelievable man. And Pernell Whitaker’s unbelievable. I take my hat off to guys like Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard. People must realize I gave this sport my whole life. I didn’t give this sport my whole life just to say there is fighter better than me. Just like you. You didn’t become a journalist just to say someone else is better than you even if they have more experience.

If they were the same weight, I would believe Floyd is a nightmare matchup for Calzaghe. Floyd's counterpunching would dismantle Cal's wide looping shots. I think Calz is a good enough boxer that he can take apart most fighters less versatile than he is, but I think a technically superior boxer/counterpuncher is where he has met his match.

Floyds a great technical fighter? Dude rarely throws a jab... I'd say he is a better defensive fighter then technical, does he win by points? Yes, but he rarely relies on a solid jab.

floyd at 140 and below threw the jab. against welterweights Floyd is much more economical.

I guess the jab would be quite pointless if he didn't have the reach advantage. Because his opponents punch would get there quicker then his own probably.
