Earnie Shavers - Hardest punching heavyweight ever

It was made by me.
He could hurt you with any punch, even if it was only grazing. Lights out if one of his right hands landed flush.
Shavers had a ton of heart too, the comeback against Roy Williams was among the greatest that I've ever seen. Holmes and Ali said Shavers was very hard to hit, until he ran out of stamina of course.Comment

I still don't know how Holmes got up from that punch. He looked dead on contact.Comment

Steve Farhood, a livin' legend among boxing reporters, writes in the June issue of Boxing Monthly:
Argue if you choose, but for one shot, Shavers was the hardest puncher in history, and 29 years later, the knockdown punch (against Holmes) remains the most brutal I've ever witnessed from ringside.Comment

The beauty of it, is the look of disbelief/disappointment on Shaver's face when he got up. I always thought that any other Heavy that got caught with that particular punch on that night would've died. Holmes said Shavers hit him too hard there. It was so hard, it woke him up. lolLast edited by Haglerwins; 10-31-2008, 09:50 AM.Comment
