roy jones and calzaghe are just looking for a way out. none of them want to face bernard, so they talking about retiring. i mean are you people serious, would you really say calzaghe is one the best all time when you didnt even know him 2 years ago? do you consider his win against hopkins a legitimate victory?. the fact that HBO is calling him one of the greatest of all time is sad.everybody knows that to be considered one of the best in boxing(or any other sport for that matter) you have to prove yourself in AMERICA. if he beats roy jones, would that mean his great. i mean he is fighting a guy in jones that hasnt been the same since tarver rocked his world, a guy that hasnt beaten anybody worth mentioning in 5 years(dont even mention the trinidad fight, tito jus needed money, he didnt train at all).to all you calzaghe fans, if he so good, why not fight hopknis again and actually BEAT him without leaving any doubt about it?. so please dont put calzaghe in no list that has to do with being the best of all time, cuz nobody knew him until his 45th fight. and there may be great fighters in his country, but the whole world knows the best fighters on earth are in america. nobody cares who wins the calzaghe-jones fight, people just want to see if the winner will be brave enough to face the executioner. i dont think they will give him the fight unless bernard pulls an "antonio tarver" type stunt,if he goes to the press conference and calls jones out like tarver did, he will get the fight, cause then the public will force jones to sign the paper. i feel bad for whoever wins this fight, cause they will be hunted down by hopkins. so the loser must feel lucky
correct me if i'm wrong. but hasn't ROY already beaten bernard? and when a second fight was mentioned, bernie wanted even money???? it looks like the one who's avoiding is bernie, and he should, cause an ass whipping by JONES in this stage of his carrer would be fatal!!! he needs to stay doing like his BOSS and continue fighting lesser weight fighters and glorifing those wins!!
Mr. Joe Calzaghe, I am hereby sorry to inform you that even if you defeat Roy Jones you will not be ending your career on top. You currently are not #1 P4P on anybody's list and if you wish to obtain that status you would need to beat Chad Dawson.
Like Hopkins fought a young prime champ in Pavlik...at 43.
Didn't fighting Hopkins, who was much, much better than Pavlik (as him beating the ****e out of him showed) end any of this? So, it moves from Pavlik to Dawson now? It went from Lacy to Kessler then to Hopkins, then to Pavlik, but Hopkins beat Pavlik so suddenly no one talks about that anymore and even though he beat Hopkins, who destroyed Pavlik, it now moves over to Dawson?
Hypothetically, what if he did beat Dawson. What would honestly say about him? I think you would say "Well, Dawson was green and didn't look good in that fight. Calzonie is still just a **** Euro bum". Beating Hopkins would have been a lot harder than beating Pavlik.
Did I see someone say that Calzonie had been ducking Pavlik for years? How long has he been champ again? Oh, and at MW? Hmmm, more of the usual BS.
Anyway, I think once he's done with this fight, however it turns out, we'll finally not have to listen to all the dumb pricks and their boring ****e (not you Reed, you ok mate).

What happened to Pavlik? I thought it was Pavlik or no one? C'mon, you going to tell me you jumped ship that quickly? Suddenly Pavlik is no one but Dawson is now the man JC has to beat to get any recognition? When did you stop saying this about Pavlik, and don't pretend you weren't.

I've always stated Calzaghe needed to fight Pavlik AND Dawson in the past to become #1 p4p. I never excluded Chad from that conversatoin. Hopkins beat Pavlik and he is going back to 160 so he would not fight Calzaghe next. Since Hopkins defeated him first it would take away from Calzaghe/Pavlik matchup.

Benny, I've been saying the same thing in another thread. If Joe beat Chad it'd be "ah well, Dawson was always over-rated anyway". Someone else suggested Calzaghe needs to stop fighting old men and face a live body. My answer is WTF -- did Chad not just beat a 40 year-old Tarver and arguably lost to a 39 year-old Johnson? I don't appreciate when people hype up a fighter, just like they did with Pavlik, Lacy, even Cotto, then dump all over him as soon as he gets beaten, usually by elite competition. Is that fair to the fighter?
Dawson isn't a big enough name for Calzaghe at the end of his career. He wants the superstars, tough **** if they are over the hill. Jones is 39. Calzaghe is not exactly near his prime either at almost 37. I don't even need to mention the fact that Hopkins walked out on the 2002 fight deal with Calzaghe, a fight he's been screaming for since at least 6 years ago.
Anyway, back to the point. Dawson has things left to prove. I can see it though, as soon as he loses the "fans" will suddenly terminate their support. I hope Chad proves us wrong, but I see him getting beaten by several possible opponents. I wouldn't put it past someone like Kessler to spark him out. If that happened, people will wish they hadn't insisted on Calzaghe-Dawson, they'd probably end up looking silly.

If he wants superstars he can fight De La Hoya next. Dawson's name is big enough for a fight to be warranted, he's no Manfredo but who is. He does not have more to prove to get a fight with Calz he beat Tarver, who Hopkins beat to get the belt, and everybody else is avoiding him. My point still stands he will not retire #1 p4p looking for superstar fights and not going after Chad.

a win over shot roy is a good way for joe to end his career. tarver and johnson both have wins over roy, and dawson beat them. tarver is shot also, though.
i'm not so sure calzaghe wipes up the ring with dawson or even beats him. bad chad isn't kelly pavlik, he's fast and has more tools in the shed than kelly does and is the naturally bigger man. it'd be a good fight, neither guy is a really powerful puncher so i'm pretty sure calzonie - dawson would go to a decision if it ever happened. as much as i'd like to see the fight, i don't see it ever happening - calz doen't need chad dawson, a UD over shot roy will be a good end to a tremendous career
yeah, im fully behind roy to knock joe all the way back to wales
joe is so full of crap, he was protected for years and never fought the best, if wanted to fight the best, he would have gone to the U.S when he was a lot younger
