Are you seriously comparing Calzaghe to Ruiz? And even though roy has quick hands, Calzaghe is still the fastest opponent he will ever have fought.

David Gaye has always been jealous of Calzaghe. It;s funny cause enzo hates the jamaican.

How is Calzaghe fighting when going backwards?

it is a dangerous fight for joe but it motivates joe and joe knows thats what is more important. if joe was to turn up to a fight without that motivation then he is more likely to lose even if it is against a nobody, joe has said may times before that he is unlikely to lose to a hopkins, lacy or kessler but more likely to lose to a sakio bika or some other contender. he has always acknowledge that complacency is his main weakness.

whats more - joes not an idiot he knows that jones is the hardest fight for him, and to be honest he might well have taken this fight on purpose because of that, sounds crazy i know but joe pursued the hardest fight he could in kess. yes that right he pursued it!! the champ went after the contender normally its the other way around especially when the contender is as dangerous as kess.

iv watched alot of footage of joe before his fight with kess, he uses a word in the build up to that fight that iv never seen him use before - fear. joe imo needs something that really ****s him up, he uses that fear to get the best out of himself.

plus theres the fact that he never took him on during his prime and thats is something that has been in the back of joes mind throughout all these years. joe chased RJJ through his prime but it just never happened for one reason or another, joe woill want to measure himself up against the most talented boxer of his generation.

as for the fight itself i see joe taking the first few on workrate alone, RJJ will begin to fight back and use his speed and imo will take some of the middle rounds but i expect joe to finish strong and take the UD.

joe will want RJJ to lay on the ropes and he will be hoping he covers up and allows him to go to work. RJJ will counter and counter shaprly but joes ring smarts will get him the desicion. joes speed is no longer what it once was n fact id say hes slower than chad dawson so i hope he doesn't let his pride get the better of him and try and prove a point which we all know he can't.

No one has ever really made him go backwards except bika, and this is what happens when Calzaghe was forced to fight going backwards. But bika isn't the most techinically sound fighter, he just has power for the most part.

I must say, I completely agree.

Now before somebody jumps on me and says 'you're just looking for a way to justify this fight as competitive', it has nothing to do with that. I was as dissapointed as the majority of fans when Calzaghe chose to fight the seemingly washed-up Jones over Pavlik (not, as has been all but proved, Calzaghe-Pavlik would have been competitive). From purely a analytical standpoint I believe that the style of Roy Jones may prove a nightmare for Calzaghe unless Jones tires in the later rounds. Calzaghe has never faced anyone with hand speed close to Jones and is very used to being quicker than his opponents. We know Calzaghe has problems with pure counter punchers, and we know from the evidence of the Jones-Trinidad fight that Jones is likely to counter against Calzaghe. Now Calzaghe has shown his adaptability throughout his career both before fights and during fights, but can he adapt to an opponent this quick? So to summarize, the outcome of this fight will be decided by these two questions in my opinion:

                1) Does Jones have the stamina to counter quickly all night?
                2) Can Calzaghe adapt to a man with quicker hand speed and reactions than himself?

My opinion is that Jones will win the first half of the fight by 4 rounds to 2 or by 3 rounds to 2. I believe he will counter Calzaghe well and Calzaghe will get caught wading in to flurry. The second half of the fight is what I debate with myself and what is relevant to the above questions. As a Calzaghe fan and an optimist, I went with my prediction that Jones tiring and Calzaghe adapting will happen simultaneously, but it is in question.

On paper this looks a mismatch between a prime champion and a washed-up former champion; but in reality Calzaghe could be walking into a trap, whether Jones is a shadow of his former self or not.

Not a bad ! But your forgeting the knockdown that Jones should get once Joe leaves himself open for ! And therefore Jones will get the nod ! I honestly don't think his slaps will knock Jones down ! Nor do I believe the judges will let him slap his way to victory again ! Not at the historic garden !

I can see Jones catching Joe flush a couple of times and knocking him down
