According to former undisputed cruiserweight champion David Haye, his trainer and manager, Adam Booth, has been in talks with the management team of heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko - to land Haye a possible fight against one of the brothers next summer. Wladimir holds the WBO/IBF titles, while older brother Vitali has the WBC title. [details]

I thought Vitali's footwork was really good for a guy who has been off for more than 4 years, of course, his feet are slower than they were before but he was doing a good job of moving away in that awkward manner.
Haye better not overlook Barrett, he may be past his prime but he can still punch.Last edited by Silencers; 10-28-2008, 12:31 AM.

Out of 22 bouts, Haye has only performed in the Heavyweight division 3 times. Once in 2004 after coming off of a 5th round TKO loss to Carl Thompson in the cruiserweight division (He won by first round KO to an opponent whose record was 15-13-1 and since then has lost 9 of his last 11 fights), also to Garry Delaney (31-17-1 now, loosing his last 3 fights after Haye and only winning 2 of his last 10 fights) a little more than a month later.
Finally, Haye has faced Tomasz Bonin, 37-1(20KOs) who has had some success after his loss to Haye.
With the exception of his Tomasz Bonin fight, who has he faced in the Heavyweight Division to land him a shot (not only a fair shot, but a realistic shot) to beat either of the Klitschkos brothers? As "terrible" as we think the Klitschokos are as champions, they just have way to much HEAVY WEIGHT experience over the Haye man. IMO Haye should be looking for some experienced from seasoned HWs like Peter and Toney first, then he should go to the Ukraine brothers.
But with that said, this is boxing. Haye, if you think you are that tight and have a shot over Wladimir (51 Wins, 3 losses, 45 KOs) or Vitali (36 Wins, 2 losses, 35 KOs) then you may very well may have your shot. Be careful what you wish for indeed. Lets see what you got.

Hate to swim against the tide, but I'm backing Haye. The guy at least has balls to step up and give it a shot. Like him or not, he's bringing some excitement back into the heavyweight division. I have to give Dave the benefit of the doubt.

First of all, a summer fight is too soon to challenge for the heavyweight title, this means he will have had 1 legit Heavyweight fight against Monte Barrett then go straight in at the deep end. He needs at least 1 more fight after Barrett against a legitimate contender before he goes for Wlad. Secondly, he needs to stay away from Vitali otherwise he's going to get a pounding.

agree that Haye maybe getting ahead of himself and that he is unproven at HW. Happy to admit I dont think he is the greatest boxer in the sport and probably not P4P material BUT he is at least "bringing it"... this is what boxing should be all about (especially HW) - exciting challengers facing champions. He is giving us what the fans want... he may fail - but at least he is trying. He is of course taking a massive risk - but that is the only way to trully make a mark. That is why people ciriticised Lennox and now cant stand the Klitschkos... Haye's hype is just what the HW needs right now.... before the two Klits take all the belts back to Germany and fight boring mandatories for the remainder of their career.
At least one thing is certain.... if Haye wins a belt he wont be defending it behind a jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab ,jab , jab, jab, jab - lol
