Was the pay good back then, would money and bad promoters get in his head?

Pay was good for the time but they made nowhere near what boxers are making today, promoters weren't that big an influence back then, the mob was.

Frankie Carbo, a former member of the killing-for-hire group Murder Inc., was the czar of boxing in the 1950s.

Tyson could have had D'Amato managing his whole career...

I'd say so, assuming he kept his head on straight.

This is a tough one ! I wanna say yes cause his prime he seemed unstoppable and he was my favorite boxer of all time since I started watching boxing! But what needs to take into consideration is early in his career he was carefully matched Rooney admitted this as did Atlas ! During the old days they fought all the time (most of the fighters )! Could an old veteran like Ezzard who had over a 100 fights figure him out ? Or Walcott ?
People rip on Marciano but 49-0 is still an accomplishment ! Also I believe the Ezzard would of beat a Berbick or a Bonecrusher smith ! Or The ol' Mongoose would've ate Spinks for breakfeast ! Basically Tyson didn't have a real tough heavyweight division himself ! Holmes was done past his prime ! So I'm gonna say no !

But we do get to see Tyson defend his title against a guy making his pro debut.

he would lose to another buster douglass type fight on Marciano's resume.

It depends if he still falls of the rails mentally. If he doesn't then yeah he beats them all but if he does he could lose to anybody.
