Am i saying Bute is the better fighter? absolutely not, but i think he deserves the higher ranking because since Kesslers loss, he hasnt done anything note worthy at all

It's simply because he's still, at least technically, undefeated. That's all. If Bute ever gets into the ring with Kessler, that'll change (by the 8th round), and Kessler will get his ranking back on boxrec, not that it really matters....it's all done by computer, and only uses the record itself, nothing else. That zero in the middle column is actually pretty meaningless in alot of ways, boxrec doesn't take that into account.

Dude, Bute was just KO'd by a guy who Kessler beat up. Before this? Bute beat a 38 year-old William Joppy. Not that impressive.

Actually, if there is any reason to rank Hopkins as the #1 middleweight in the world its because he just dominated Pavlik. Yes, yes, I know the fight was at 170.

But the Kessler-Andrade fight was recent. Just last year infact.

You summed up perfectly the strange basis for Kessler's current recognition. He gets far too much credit for losing a fight.

Just because Bute basically lost to Andrade, does not mean he automatically loses to Kessler.

I don't agree with the ranking, but Bute's fast hands and decent power will give anyone a real test.

Neither of them has faced the type of opponent that the other guy offers at this point. Styles make fights folks.

That's ridiculous. In the past 12 months Kessler has lost to the p4p no.2, hospitalized a young undefeated fighter and KO'ed a mandatory who has never been ko'ed before and that in his own backyard.

At the same time Bute has defeated Berrio (a good journeyman at best), a 35 year old washed-up Joppy who himself hadn't fought anyone with a pulse since 2004 and of course Andrade who Kessler soundly outpointed without losing a single minute of the entire fight.
