Is light heavy taking over welter in the most popular/exciting weight class?
Is light heavy the new welterweight?

no
most of the fighters are old and on the verge of retirement
Jones,Calzaghe,Hopkins,Tarver,Johnson
all will be gone soon -
IMO, Lightweight is number 1, followed by Welter.
Super-Fly (115) is third. Also, 168 is shaping up to be better then 175. 175 may have the bigger names, but 168 is full of younger blood with potentially great match-ups if they are willing to face each other.Comment

Man **** what its gonna be its what it is now... LHW is slowly gaining momentum on WW and rightfully so, guys from 168-175 or liable to fight eachother so that alone is 2 divions to 1 so if i had to choose a division id take LHW.. no doubt!Comment

Nah too many of the LHW's are on their way out, i'd say the SMW division is looking better for 2009 if we see the top guys facing each other.
However LHW has been one of the most entertaining divisions this year.Comment

175 will be empty soon Calzaghe, Roy, Hopkins, Johnson, Tarver will retire soon. Dawson will be the only one left.
I think right now it goes
1. Lightweight (Marqiez, Juan Diaz, Casa, Campell, Santa Cruz, David Diaz, Julio Diaz, Jesus Chavez, Pacquiao, Pitalua, Khan, Funeka, Raheem, Peterson, Prescott, Katsidis, Romanov, Thaxton)
2. Welter (Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Cintron, Berto, Collazo, Mosely, Mayorga?, Clottey, Judah?, Baldomir, Quintana, DLH?)
3. LightHeavy (will be barren once all those fighters retire) (Calzaghe, Jones, Hopkins, Dawson, Johnson, Tarver, Erdei, Woods, Diaconu, Garay, Shaun Geroge, Tavouris Cloud, Cleverly?)
4. Super Middle (Kessler, Bute, Andrade, Mundine, Taylor, Lacy, Froch, Pascal, Inkin, Bika, Miranda, Green, Dirrell)Comment
