Was Mike Tyson a smart fighter?

What do you guys think? Was he a smart figher? Or was he just simply an incredibly physically gifted athlete?

He was a well schooled fighter, very underrated defense.

He was a pretty smart fighter but definitely not the smartest, when plan A went out the window, he rarely had a plan B, I think he relied more on his physical gifts and intimidating nature than his smarts.

        That's what I think too.

well if Tyson were to box on the outside and rely on his jab, that would have been very dumb of him considering his assets.

Tyson came straight at u which if u have his size and his skills is the smart way to do it! I dont wanna sart something i'll regret here but i dont think Mike could have been FLEETFOOTED!

He came in behind the jab and used excellent head movement and combinations all while not neglecting the body.
Of course this was PRIME Tyson.

But he didnt really have a plan B, and if he was smart he'd have learned to fight better on the inside, he could KO u in that range but often didnt throw when on the inside

Bottom line, no Ali but not daft either

I would say he ws fairly Smart, he listened to his corner which is pretty smart, however once Cus passed away he never had smart people in his corner that he was willing to listen too.
