Did Bernard Hopkins learn his Ring skills, defense and craft from Freddie Roach?

So, I saw this gem in another thread:

no i dontthink 43 yr old hopkins is better than prime hopkins but let me tell you omething that you already know - styles make fights.

todays hopkins would probably beat the joe calzaghe of 1996. youve got to take into account the style and hopkins style these days or a prime james toney style is what joe struggles with.

hopkins in his prime had more of his physical prowess but whats more important when facing joe is the mental maturty of the fighter and his ring intelligence. a prime Hopkins would try to use strength, speed and other physical gifts wto defeat joe and most people would proabably say that in terms of physical prowess (speed, stamina, strength) joe proabably just comes out on top.

ah, no. Hopkins with roach imo didn't look that good (vs winky and calzaghe). I don't think Roach could teach a 42 and 43 year old much. Roach even admitted that prior to the calzaghe fight when they were training - he just said he was there more or less to motivate and watchover him. Bernard knew every trick in the book long before roach.

          No.

Naazim is a much better trainer (For Hopkins at least) than Roach.

Bouie Fisher trained Bernard, not Futch.

I didn't add that this is a serious Calzaghe fanboy that said this but probably should have.

Roach taught Hopkins everything he ever knew.

Seriously, it is quite amazing that a late starter (who boxed in prison) like Hopkins turned out to be as smart a boxer as he did. Early on he was a typical, tough pressure fighter who probably got a wake-up call in his defeat to Roy Jones and the draw with Mercado.

Against Glen Johnson in 1997 he already looked like a complete boxer.
