I got Berto, Collazo has been inactive and failed at the top level of the sport. Berto is really starting to mature into a serious fighter, though the highest echelon still remains a bit of a leap (Cotto, Margarito).

but how is berto established himself at top level? berto's best win was against a blown up 135 pound former champion.

i wouldn't say collazo 'failed' either at the elite level. collazo beat the **** out of ricky hatton and should have won according to most ringside observers. he stayed competitive with sugar shane mosley with a broken hand....

Like a Quintana fight, Collazo would be a step up for Berto so it's hard to say who wins, I think it would be a tough fight for both of them though.

That represents a much greater victory than Jose Rivera.

He beat Ricky Hatton up in spots, but those spots where he showed mental vulnerability, particularly early when he was looking for help from the referee every time he got roughed up, those are serious issues when challenging for a world title.

By staying competitive with Collazo, do you mean he didn't get stopped? He was competitive early, but faded down the stretch and never seemed to get back into the action in the second half of the fight.

Berto is a much tougher opponent than Artur Atadzhanov or Russell Jordan. It's hard to invest much confidence in a guy that has gone on the record to say he's contemplating retirement.

agreed. they are both slick southpaws. quintana has a very slight edge in side, with collazo having a very slight edge in lateral movement and angles....

they both make a very tough fight for berto, who has yet to fight someone of this caliber

i don't get how boricuas can be so supportive of their fighters, but don't get behind Luis Collazo more on the grand scale. He's world class, an elite, slick southpaw, and most importantly in this case, he reps Puerto Rico and Brooklyn to the fullest. He is the mandatory against Margarito AND Berto, and if he pulls either off, it will be a glorious win for PR. Where you guys at?!?
