Kessler stepped up and as we know he lost to Calzaghe, which is fine. His next two fights have been against much lesser talent and could probably be considered tune ups. Would you as a fan be disappointed if he took another one of these warmups or do you think he is entitled to another one? I think Kessler needs to fight the winner of Lacy/Taylor, Bute, Andrade, or another top 10 guy at 168.

I'd really like to see Kessler step out of his comfort zone and show what he can do in the division. I don't see any reason why 168 can't be his to own now Calzaghe has vacated.

Yeah definitely expect him to step up.

To be fair to him, he wanted to step up for this fight but has been backed into a corner by the WBA to accomodate his mandatory.

And the big names weren't exactly lining up to give him the paycheque needed to tempt him to drop his strap. Pavlik, BHop, Dawson, Tarver, Bute, Jones and Joe have all been occupied. Taylor didnt want to fight Froch, so he wasnt gonna be up for Kessler.

I was hoping that Bute and Kessler would go at it next but something tells me Butes people are gonna keep him wrapped in cotton wool after last night.

Kessler says he didn't want this fight with Haussler, so yes, I expect him to make his move to big time fights next year.

IMO It is Kessler's management that are holding him back. He looked wonderfully managed at the start of his career and even up to the fight with Calzaghe he was paced very well. Now after two relatively easy fights I hope he will try to step up and unify. The guy definately has the talent to do it.

You can allow a fighter a couple of soft fights after their first defeat but I hope he steps up his level of opposition after tonight.

Hopefully he does, this fight is just a mandatory.

He needs to get back into the big fights otherwise he will be fighting bums forever, he has too much talent too waste. Kessler can own 168, it's just whether he gets the fights.

I really want him to, I'm just not 100% confident that he will.
