Your Favorite Modern-Day Boxing Commentator (Non-Boxers/Trainers):

Who's your favorite commentator for Boxing?!? Sorry Euro/Brit fans, but these are the guys who call it on our side of the pond, so you may not be entirely familiar with them. If you are, please vote! For American fans, my options are basically limited to ESPN, HBO, and Showtime, since they are the dominant networks that showcase boxing.

Anyway, this poll will give you options of commentators of the past 10 years or so that still commentate. It will not include trainers or fighters who become commentators, but guys the other guys calling the fights. The one exception is Teddy Atlas, because he seems like he should be in this category for some reason I can't exactly pinpoint....

    Choices:

    Teddy Atlas
    Joe Tessitore
    Jim Lampley
    Larry Merchant
    Bob Papa
    Steve Farhood
    Al Bernstein
    Nick Charles
    Steve Albert
    Max Kellerman

My favorite two are Larry Merchant and Steve Farhood. I love Larry for his metaphors and style. He doesn't always appreciate the finer points of the game, ala the styles of Sweet Pea, PBF, and B-Hop, but he has a writer's mentality. He's a little more poetic and grandoise than the others, and I like that.

For straight forward, calling the shots, I like Steve Farhood for my money. He is the most Objective writer/commentator in the game, and I like that. He is the man!

Vote and explain why.... Your thoughts?

Atlas is a trainer, I personally like Lampley the best, specially when a boxer is rallying or something crazy is going on. Recent examples are during the Angulo-Tsurkan fight when he started going crazy "GO DOWN!!!!!!", "SAVE YOURSELF!!!!" "NOOOO NOOOOO,"

The UK commentators sucks ass. I seriously mute my streams and re-download fights if it's UK commentary. I just can't stand those 2 dudes from Setana.

WHAT?! Bob Sheridan! that guy always makes fights exciting, and actually is pretty accurate with his commentary.

I also used to like that bloke from Eurosprt. who was he...wordsworth or something? he was hilarious.
