    What next for Kelly Pavlik?

After suffering an embarrassing one sided beat down loss to veteran future hall of famer Bernard Hopkins, what does Kelly Pavlik do now? Pavlik was or still is (depends who you talk to on this forum) one of boxing's biggest stars because of his ‘blood ‘n guts’ attitude and his very fan friendly style of boxing….

What does he do to regain some of his lost luster? Should he take an extended hiatus (6 months +) like Mikkel Kessler did after suffering his first defeat? Or should he get right back into the fray?...

Pretend you’re Pavlik’s manager and are mapping out a comeback strategy. What opponents do you put in front of him and why, and when do you bring him back?...

Well if I was Pavlik...I would clear out 160...Taking on Sturm and then Abraham...once I unified the middleweight division..I would try to make a mark in the Super Middleweight division.

I would agree but think he should take a tune-up for getting in with Abraham...

He should take on Abraham before AA has to move up.

FYI the Kessler situation was different as Kessler had surgery on his right hand. Hence the extended lay-off.

Fight Rubio then try to get a fight with Sturm or Abraham.

he should look to get into confidenc tune up, he is a good fighter but he isn't great. however thats not to say that he cant be, he has good power, a good chin, he seems fit, healthy and most importanly he'll be hungrier now than ever.

one thing is an absolute must though: get a flippin trainer!!! Jack Loew has done a stellar job in getting his fighter to make the best out of what he has but imo if Pavlik wants to go to the next level then he needs to get someone in who will give him new direction.

Jack was a complete novice in the build up to the fight saying that his fighter's weight wouldn't be a problem as pavik would be able to eat more, during the fight he had nothing else but the double jab and then halfway through he retrreated to just giving his fighter the water and not much else.

Kelly needs a conditioner as well. pretty soon he is going to be too big for middleweight and he will need someone who will help him carry his power through the weights.

after he gets rid of Rubio,

he moves onto Abraham and gets knocked out

Hopkins fight was a mismatch, I called it and was able to capitalize on that.

I noticed that Calzaghe who is a super star fighter, was having a hard time with Hopkins.. Pavlik is really a slow, one-dimensional fighter and I knew he would have soooo many problems with a veteran who not only knows all the tricks in the book, but also wrote half of them.

Hopkins was coming of a loss. Pavlik also beat the fighter (twice) who beat Hopkins twice... Hopkins was +500...

I told all of my friends (half of them don't even know how to spell Boxing) that this is pretty much a winner... We all bet $100 on Hopkins by decision and got $600 back!!!

                    Ripped that bookie apart! :-D

So what's next for Pavlik... he is still the King of MW.. a unification with AA would be a great fight... Pavlik should be able to win this one easily in a great brawl...
