I don't know why people say he's just bitter he's not getting paid. Obviously he isn't happy about it, but he wouldn't be saying this if DLH was fighting a guy of comparative size, so that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Re Miguel Cotto
Come now. After getting tremendous beating from Antonio Margarito and recovering from a swollen mouth, Cotto is making big words in his return. We look at this as Cotto's way of making an impact and getting attention after a humiliating defeat. He spoke in a manner, as if belittling Dela Hoya's opponent (Pacman) and portraying himself as a much worthy opponent for the Golden Boy. Although, he is a good boxer, we don't think he is better than the Pacman.
The way we look at it too, he wants to take another beating from either Oscar or the Pacman. But, after that beating he took from Margarito, we doubt if Cotto would still be the same. Cotto's "myth" (created by his former undefeated status) was already shattered, after that humiliating fight stoppage.
How we do wish the Pacman would get his eyes on you after this dream fight with Dela Hoya, for belittling him.

why does it always gotta be Oscar?
and MrPain why would you WANT to see DLH vs Hatton .. even if it was in front of 100,000 fans
granted yes big events and fights help bring attention to the sport. (I'll hold off calling it Great .. see later)
no way around arguing against that. these big fights sell out quickly not to mention are covered pretty regularly by the media .. enlarging the exposure of boxing.
but IMO all that attention is wasted if the fight being hyped up is a mismatch (Pac-DLH or Hatton-DLH)
I mean wasn't The World Awaits supposed to be the fight to "save boxing"
and what happened after all the build up and hoopla? granted the fight broke the record for Boxing PPV sales
but the fight itself was lame IMO and casual fans just went back to not caring about Boxing.
what stops the same cycle of repeating post DLH-Pacquiao?
your right that DLH creates interest and i guess a care factor attatched to his fights .. that the media just can't stay away from
but at what point to the fans smarten up and get tired of the SSDY?
because unlike the hardcore fans, I can detach myself from boxing and look at the bigger picture.
you said yourself that DLH's trying to cash out by making this fight, so yeah the Dream fight creates+brings interest back to boxing ... but at what cost?
I mean how much longer can boxing go on being supportedby DLH?
**^^I compare it to these horribly made parody movies (Disaster Movie, Meet The Spartans, Epic Movie, Scary Movie 4) where yes the movies are no good, but enough people see them so the producers are able to make more
same thing with DLH, even with the negativity this fight is getting .. DLH-Mora, or DLH-whoever it will sell, lol.
and after all these years, and especially now, I have to wonder ... why aren't people sick of these Parody's/DLH?
so will we really get Margarito-DLH next ... or will it be DLH-Marquez/DLH-Campbell .. DLH-Hatton or god forbid DLH-Mayweather 2.
I guess some people don't mind the SSDY
(that's Same S*it, Different Year)

Cotto is definitely right in every sense on this fight. There's too much physical advantage on De La Hoya's part.

If Hatton keeps winning and if Delahoya beats Pacman and Margarito/Cotto/Williams for a title, I have no problem if Hatton wanting to try once again down the line for a welterweight title in a huge mega fight against Delahoya.
Boxing didn't need to be saved, boxing needs the best fighters consistently fighting each other. After Maywather vs Delahoya the promoters and fighters saw how great that fight sold and the biggest and best fights have been getting signed.
The fight was not great but it still made Mayweather a superstar and he ended up selling big numbers in his very next fight, even Hatton who lost is bigger then ever in the UK. Win or lose this fight Pac will only become a bigger name and star, that's why I have no problem with it.
As for Delahoya, he gets hate if he does or if he don't. People ***** about him no matter what, It's like the guy you love to hate. He has consistently fought the best fighters yet he still gets called a coward and a *****.
The problem with online boxing fans is all they want to do is ***** and moan instead of going to a fight and enjoying themselves.
Originally posted by C.Y. View Postthis coming from a guy who fought a guy from the contender.. alfonso gomez??? negro please!!
was Cotto-Gomez on HBO PPV for $54.95? don't think it's very valid to compare the 2 fights
(Dream Fight) to Cotto-Gomez
have to say out of all the quotes and press I've read bad mouthing the Dream fight ... IMO the quote below says it best.
"this fight shows how much boxing has fallen"
Granted YES the fight will do well on PPV .. I'd be shocked if it didn't (and don't they say a sucker's born every minute?)
yes the Dream Fight will garner a lot of attention from the media outlets and thanks to HBO, media and 24-7 it'll be hyped up the gazoo.
but come on a 36 yr old DLH making the P 4 P #1 fighter move up TWO weight classes to fight him?
again go back to Cotto's quote .. "shows how boxing has fallen"
how dare Bob Arum allow Cotto to say something so intelligent.
like i said earlier i dont care much about that fight, i think its a dumb fight but atleast to oscar's credit he's faced many top fighters in his career..
cotto/gomez.. who the **** is gomez? how are u gonna try to down play oscar's opponent (pacman) when cotto has gone up against a guy like gomez.. cotto has actually said gomez is a great fighter.. thats some bs right there.. maybe when cotto actually beats a young elite prime fighter he can say something.. but until then, he just needs to stay quiet and contrate on avenging his loss against margarito.. a guy who isnt even the best fighter in their division.

Complaining? who said i was complaining?
all I said was DLH-Pac will cost $54.95 via PPV.
one statement, the end. no complaints from me
it's PPV and will cost $54.95, the end.
and yes Oscar's had a great career, but at 36 IMO he needs to stop milking the fans for all there worth
at this point in time, as a sports and boxing fan I do not care for DLH. I don't love or hate him
i am in-different on the topic and don't care to see him fight.
when did Cotto call Gomez great?
and second of all it was a tune up fight ffs. who cares .. big deal .. Cotto fought a cup cake opponent Alfonzo Gomez to set up a big PPV fight vs Antonio Margarito
is Miguel Cotto the only elite level fighter in the history of the sport to take a tune up fight?
unless the answer to the above is yes .... why is Cotto fighting Gomez a big deal?
and at least Gomez is a natural 154 .. big Welterweight
where Pacquiao has to move up 2 weight classes for this upcoming fight.
but until then, he just needs to stay quiet and contrate on avenging his loss against margarito.. a guy who isnt even the best fighter in their division.
well Bob Arum would agree with you, but Cotto's just using his right to freely speak.
Julio Chavez and Vernon Forrest have also openly poked fun at this fight .. should they keep quiet as well?
and at least Cotto had the balls to face Margarito.
