Bute vs. Andrade: The Pre-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - It’s not quite his U.S. debut, having previously appeared on ESPN2, but a main event on Showtime’s ShoBox series Friday night marks his biggest stage so far on a weekend with little other action in the U.S. 28-year old Romanian IBF Super Middleweight titlist Lucien Bute (22-0, 18 KO) is no stranger to hardcore followers of the sport. Word of mouth out of Canada, the nation he’s made his home turf, has been strong. So have the best of his performances. Wins over solids like James Obede Toney, Sergey Tatevoysan and eventual Contender Season Three winner Sakio Bika led him towards a shot at the vacant IBF belt with power punching Alejandro Berrio.

I'm not sure if Andrade is good enough, but I am sure that he'll be bringing it for as long as the fight lasts.

Andrade is one of the few guys in boxing that you can honestly say there isn't anything to you can hate on him for.

Logic tells me that Bute by wide UD, but I wouldn't mind seeing a stoppage by the ref in favor of Andrade.

This fight needs more press... along with the Cunningham / Adamek fight.
