they keep saying supermiddle, and middle, but he's young.he's gonna grow.usually middleweights start of as junior middles like kelly and grow into they're bodies.then again, he could be like paul williams and come down after starting at a higher weight.Comment

While I think Kelly is a great fighter, I think he has been a terrible CHAMPION.
Beats Jermain
Rematch @ 166, not his fault but it would have been better at 160.
Crappy mandatory against Lockett
170 fight with Hopkins
(Now likely) Mandatory against Rubio.
That being said, I still think he beats every middleweight out there.Comment

I agree. His management team has done a terrible job establishing him as the Man at 160. They are focused more on whoring him out to every fighter within 10 lbs. of the middleweight division instead of just having him fight the best that 160 has to offer. I think the mandatories are necessary, unfortunately, if he wants to have a chance at unifying those belts. But in between the Locketts and Rubios, he should be fighting Winky, Paul Williams at 160, Anthony Mundine who seems to want to get knocked out really badly.and definitely pursue Sturm and Abraham above all else. The Hopkins loss really set back his plans in terms of scheduling. He needs Rubio now to build confidence. If anyone from 154 wants to step up, like Forrest or young guns like James Kirkland, they might also provide some entertainment. He should be fighting all these fights on HBO, not PPV. He is not ready for PPV, he needs to keep getting exposure before he can resell himself as an elite name. If he fights the best in his division, and wins all of these bouts convincingly, then, and only then, wil it be time to start mentioning a step up to 168, and even then he should start out with smalller names like Pascal,Lacy, Andrade, and Froch, before he talks about fighting Bute and Kessler. There is very good news even after the Hopkins loss though: He is still an undefeated, undisputed champion at 160 lbs.(his L was at 170), he is only 26, and he is one of the most entertaining fighters in the world. There is still huge potential for this young man, if he is handled properly. Unfortunately, this is a big if, but I am optimistic about the future of the guy, he deserves success because no one can say he has done anything other than bust his ass to get where he is today. While I think Kelly is a great fighter, I think he has been a terrible CHAMPION.
