Every time i watch any highlights of a younger toney it upsets me. Toney could have been really great. I mean he is a great fighter but if he prepared properly like a Hopkins..then we could be talking about one of the greatest fighters ever.

You have a valid point. He always had weight issues

Too bad for Jirov Toney actually showed up in shape for that fight. You never try to smother an inshape Toney. He'll take you apart.

Toney was meant to fight Jirov in November 2002 after KOing J.Robinson but Jirov postponed the fight for the 10th time trying to unsettle Toney's preparation and hoping his weight would balloon.

If Jirov faced the Toney that kicked Robinson's butt Jirov would have been stopped in 6. Mind you Toney should have finished Jirov after round 6 and had Jirov in serious trouble in the latter rounds but didn't finish him.

Manny Steward was going berserk: "Oh my God, look at this....Look at this!"lol Toney deserved wide UD cos he busted Jirov up bad. Look at Jirov's face after the fight and the way he wobbled after trying to raise his hands in victory after the bell. Toney's defence was second to none, he landed his left hook whenever he wanted to, took Jirov's best body shots, threw beautiful combinations and even managed to have a chat with his corner when Jirov was landing chopping right hands on toney's head. Title sealed for Toney with highlight knockdown in final seconds of round 12.

Gotta give credit to Jirov for making it such a great fight cos "it takes two to tango" and he never stopped walking to Toney and land punches even when he was hurt. One of the best fights you'll see!
