pavlik got schooled, he needs to get better to be in bernards class. too bad there wont ever be a rematch and pavlik will have to live with this loss without a shot at redeeming it.

styles make fights and bernard picked kellys style to pieces.

and im as big of a pavlik fan as any outside of complete nuthuggers

i am from the same school of thought that believes something truly was wrong with Kelly that night. Looking at any of his past fights and the workrate he had on the fight vs. Hopkins, you can tell there was a huge difference in punch output from him. That wasn' Kelly Pavlik in their Saturday. Now if the argument was that Bernard shut him down, fine. But you cant shut down number output, that has to come from within a fighter.

im not sure 100% what it was...but he looked like a boy fighting a man in there...

hopkins made it look as if it were a tune-up fight for something bigger...kind of like how lockett was pavlik's staybusy/tune up fight.

unfortunately im not sure he'll ever get a chance to prove it were a fluke because he was beat so convincingly the demand for a rematch by fans overall is extremely low...and other than hardcore pavlik fans i dont think many people really want to pay another $50 to see a one sided fight again...

i would buy that he had an orgy with a buncha atlantic city hookers before the fight.
but then i would feel worse about him having an orgy with atlantic city hookers, than losing to hop.

Yes, you can shut down number output. Pavlik has to set his feet before he punches. A boxer can throw off Kelly's stance by moving laterally faster than he can set his feet, or by frequent variation of the distance between him and the other fighter, causing him to throw far fewer punches.

Plus, punching a guy in the face is an effective way to keep him from getting shots off, and Hopkins was also using that strategy pretty effectively against Pavlik.

It's made even made worse when you look at Pavlik in any of his fights and you can see the holes in his style that a smart and skillful fighter like Hopkins could exploit.
