    Angulo-vs-McEwan on 11/22

According to Boxrec Angulo is set to face Craig McEwan on the Hatton-vs-Malignaggi undercard. Other than being trained by Roach I know nothing about McEwan. Is he any good or will this be a mismatch?

He sparred with Hopkins in the run-up to the Calzaghe fight.

That'd be the ultimate sparring, you can barely hit that bastard.

McEwan has a reputation for being a very tough guy in So Cal gyms. I can't say that I've ever seen him fight though.

This gives me another incentive to go to Las Vegas that weekend and attend this fight card. But is McEwen ready for an opponent like Angulo?

It would be quite an upset if McEwen wins.

Anglu probably shouldn't be fighting a guy who has sparred with hopkins... Could be an upset... When you spar with a guy you learn new things in boxing when you spar with different fighters. I don't know if this McEwan guy is any good but he could be the first guy to beat Anglu probably by decision...

This is ashame since Anglu is a very entertaining fighter in some aspects and this was a ****** move by his management team unless McEwan is that ****ty of a boxer that just happened to spar with Hopkins.

I'm kind of dubious. I mean if he was all that a big promoter would have offered him good money over here to stay and KO a few bums win a british title et. Instead he is over there having great sparring but is so under the radar nobody knows who he is. I suspect he ain't all that, hope I'm wrong.

Andy Lee was the gym champion at the KronK wasn't he, lost to Brandon Vera.

                An Angulo KO methinks.

Hopkins probably only sparred him coz he's a southpaw.

Don't worry, I'm fairly certain Angulo will win.

I saw McEwen on the internet stream of the British broadcast of the Mosley - Mayorga fight card. He looked okay against a limited opponent, but nothing special, although I suppose he could improve in a couple of years.

McEwen's never fought a decent opponent, while Angulo has already defeated three good fighters. I wonder why they are throwing Craig to the wolves this soon?

I understand your point, but it may be that McEwen is having problems getting decent opponents and doesn't want to regret passing up this opportunity if nothing better ever comes around for him.
