    Someone explain this to me

Why is it that we have to dish out $50 (PPVs) to watch something that only costs tens of millions of dollars to produce, while on the other hand, we only have to pay (on average) about $10 to watch a movie that costs hundreds of millions of dollars?

I am not referring to a specific match or movie but for the sake of argument, let's use Mayweather-Hatton and The Dark Knight as examples.

because of the audience bro...you're talkin about millions and millions worldwide for a movie compared to what 2mil for a boxing blockbuster...

And speaking of movie revenue, did you know that they offered Sean Connery the Gandolph role in Lord of The Rings? They offered him 15% of worldwide ticket revenue and he turned it down because he ‘didn’t understand the role’….that would have been $400million

Boxing is a much narrower market, a movie like Batman will appeal to a huge audience, kids who like the series, adults who watched it when they were younger etc. will all go to see that, so they can get away with charging less. A fight will appeal to less people, as there are far fewer boxing fans than there are general movie fans so they need to bump the price to make the difference up.

              Although, it is pretty ridiculous.

Because millions go to watch a movie at the cinema and millions more buy the dvd. Movies have a much larger audience so they can sell them cheap and still make a profit

Less people will buy the PPV than watch the movie so they have to charge more to make profit
