Or is it just a matter of Styles make fights? Did Pavlik just make himself an easy target on Saturday night? Bhop seemed so energized, and non-hesitant to let his punches go, whereas when he fought Calzaghe, he seemed tired and old. Could it have just been that Calzaghes high slap rate threw Bhop off his game plan? I would've like to see the Bernard that fought Pavlik, show up for the Calzaghe fight. But like i said, it could just be a matter of Styles.
Was this the same Bernard that fought Calzaghe

No.
He was 6 months older.
Styles make fights. Pavlik made Hopkins look sensational. If he gets in the ring with a more complete fighter i.e Calzaghe, he'll look negative, cheaty and inactive again.Comment

Yes they were only months apart, same human being.
Just that if Hopkins tryed to be ****y and whined up his punches like he did in the 7th round I beleive, he would of got caught by one of Calzaghes relentless barrages, not very smart.
Calzaghe Beat the Hopkins that beat Pavlik.Comment

Fair assumption, but I disagree about the more complete fighter part. He even said himself he's gonna be more offensive minded. Why do you think he would go back?Comment

Same Hopkins, but different mindset and better conditioning. Cautious against Joe. Aggressive against Pavlik because of the close decision losses to Taylor and Cal. Pavlik made Hop look even better because he got completely discouraged so quickly. He was mentally beat just a few rounds in.Comment

combination of a couple of things, imo. Calzaghe's style, hopkins' gameplan/strategy. I think if hopkins was more aggressive or at least tried to be, he could have got the nod.
He looked fatigued to me in the 2nd half of the calzaghe fight. I don't know why he was then and not pavlik. Maybe all the clinching took more energy then throwing punches, maybe his training was different, or maybe it just had to do with calzaghe's style, I dunno.
Regardless, calz deserves credit for the close win.Comment
