yeah, i can see that.
But let's say for argument sake that Pavlik was able to stick him with two jabs and get inside. And then what? What are you supposed to tell your fighter?
"Okay...i doubled the F**king Jab. Now what?"
As for Hopkins. Bernard was never in the same place twice. He was a moving target the ENTIRE night.
For a 26 year old kid not being able to catch a 43 year old moving? Damn. Hopkins has to be a good fighter.
Hopkin's legs are 43 years old.Comment

Yup but I was reading that Hopkins' said that he kept stepping to his right which is Pavlik's left while being careful not to waste energy, so he would be stepping but not bouncing around the ring.yeah, i can see that.

in my opinion it was the key...
if you look at his fights with taylor and miranda you notice he uses his jab to mask the overhand right (that catches the fighters of guard and knocks them down/out)...its his bread and butter...he jabs and sneaks a right hand through that you never see coming.
hopkins would clinch, move away from his jab, etc. do EVERYTHING he could to take it away...so at best pavlik would pop a jab or two here and there but i dont recall him doubling up on it at any point in the fight really, and most of the single jabs hopkins saw from a mile away and would block it or weave out of the way. making it useless and hopkins would know the right hand was coming next and would prevent it from happening.Comment

dunno guys... i think after the 3rd round Pavlik should have tried something like feint the jab to the face from distance and then go to the body, in different ways, like straight to the belly, or left hook to the side, and then overhand right...try to trap him give him different looks and back him up a bit. Things he and his corner shold have worked in the gym, but didnt....how can you hope to kill Bhop with 1twos?Comment

The man's a fucking genius, simple little moves that completely fucked up KPav.Jab was the key exactly double jab or even a good stiff single jab. Kelly didn't land much of anything all night long. Hopkins was moving to his right to take away Pavlik's powerful right hand. He was moving his head to his right rolling his shoulder and using his foot work and slick upper body movement to give Kelly diffeffernt angles. Throw sneaky punches using his faints and clinching when need be. B Hop even got the reff to take a point from Pavlik for hitting behind the head. AMAZING!!! I saw Hopkins winning the fight but not this easy. Hopkins gave him a pure lesson DONT F@CK WITH B HOP!!!THERE ENDTH THE LESSON!!!!in my opinion it was the key...

Pavlik is a one dementional fighter with loads of power who just comes foward. he wasn't able to cut the ring off. He got frustrated early and Hopkins got inside his head. After the first four rounds it would have took more then a double jab to save Pavlik. I can see Hopkins now swinging that hand around Sugar Ray Lenoard style and smashing Pavli in the face with it. At that point I was loike OMG he just didn't do that did he?
Then his post fight stare for the press and the advice he gave Kelly after he kicked his ass. "Don't let this ruin you son" If you aren't in the gym don't make me have to come down there and drag your ass in there" Something to that effect. AMAZING B HOP good for you X.

Hopkins used his footwork and defense to eliminate Pavliks jab.
Pavlik uses his jab to set up his right and basically all of his combinations.
Without it he is pretty useless and it showed.Comment
