Peter fought and physically looked like he never expected Vitali to make it out of training camp. I think he knew what everyone else suggested - that a healthy Vitali beats him 10 out 10 times - and fought accordingly.
But I agree, quitting on his stool was the absolute clincher if this is even an argument (which it isn't, IMO).
