hopkins needs to hold and he will. it will stop pavlik getting anything more than a 1-2 off. i can see hopkins winning this i really can.
think about it
hopkins will weigh close to 190 with pavlik being 180 ish on the day of the fight, giving away 10 lbs pavlik will be slower again and his punch will not carry that far. i can see hopkins putting on a tarver esque performance by standing out of range against the taller fighter.

pavlik's work rate is not nearly as good as joe's and neither is his footwork and speed, can pavlik make hopkins look his age?

Hopkins wins this one and a lot of people will be very shocked how one dimensional he will make pavlik look. pavlik hasnt got a work rate like calzaghe, he cant adapt either, he will eat right hands all night and old hopkins will eek out a decision here.

calzaghe beat hopkins because he was off balance a lot and hopkins found it really tough to time him in the end, calzaghe fought a risky fight (being off balanced and ultimately knocked down) but he was able to really smother hopkins because of it. pavlik wont go down but he will eat a lot of leather on the way to losing to hopkins.
factors favoring pavlik:
hopkins not having the extra 5 lbs (works both ways though)
hopkins not having roach and mackie shilstone
i just dont see pavlik being able to land that predictable left jab - right hand.
