I think the fight would be close, but if I take a step back and think about their attributes, this is what I see:
I don't really see any advantages for Pavlik in any department.
Speed is DEFINITELY Kessler
Technical boxing ability is Kessler
Counterpunching ability DEFINITELY Kessler
Power I would say I lean slightly towards Kessler
Defense goes to Kessler
Ability to adapt goes to Kessler
See what I mean? Can you honestly give Pavlik any of those advantages? Don't even tell me power either, because watch both fighter's fights. Kessler has more pop in his punches.

You can't give this category to Kessler. I am yet to see him adapt in the ring. In the one fight he needed to he failed miserably.

what about heart, stamina and volume of punches thrown? this is a classsic example of people taking the most recent fight way too seriously and not looking at someone's career, or looking at them for what they are. im not having a go at you mate im just saying try and look at it without bias, without prejudice and witha rational mind.
you see im not a fan of Pavlik, in fact iv always seen Pavlik for being a good fighter but not as good as pepople make him out to be, yes he has good power, strength, stamina and big heart but as youve said in your post against the top guys in or around his division his speed, technique and porous defense are obvious flaws.
iv always thought that a clever boxer (JC, abraham, hopkins, maybe Dawson) would have the beating of Pavlik, Kessler would simply outgun him and is probably the only guy who can at the minute, im not saying this just now after Pavlik's loss iv always been saying it.
in terms of power, speed, strength, counterounching Kessler is way ahead of pavlik and in terms of ability to adapt and his chin he probably just edges him out as well.
Anyway enough about kessler and onto Pavlik. imo he is going to have too move up sooner or later, hes getting bigger and fighting at all these different catchweights and then going back down to 160 isn't going to do him any good.
he needs a good conditioner someone who will help him carry his power through the weight classes. A conditioner would get him ship shape, Jack is not the guy to do that. Jacks idea of fighting at a higher weight was that his fighter would be heathier and stronger at the weight because he would be able to eat more?!?! hows that for sounding amateurish.
