Larry Merchant: Pavlik has a Problem

and that problem is Bernard Hopkins. B-Hop will do a Tito Trinidad on Pavlik tonight. It seems like Hopkins has a natural ability to neutralize power punchers, i.e., Tito, Antwon Echols and now the Ghost.

Neutralizing power punchers or any puncher is moving when they are about to throw a punch, then they wont throw it because the target has moved. Its no different than when youre aiming a gun and you have a bird in your sites if the bird moves or flies away, you wont shoot or you will readjust all over again to get him back in your sites. Calzaghe was a different animal because even if that bird moves he will still fire and just turn with the bird while still aiming to let shots off again.

He schooled the kid last night. Gave him a physical and mental beatdown.

I agree the problem with Calzaghe was even if Hopkins made him miss and countered him and moved around him Calzaghe would not stop firing even if he knew he was going to miss.

            B-Hop is an ATG.

Hands down. I don't care what ANYONE says.

            Respect.

This man is one of the greatest fighters in our era.

You talk way too much like the real bernard hopkins, you watch too much of bernard... Or you actually are him. Were you on here last night? Or were you busy kicking the **** out of Kelly Pavlik.

That's all Kelly could do, he's so one dimensional it's not even funny. His only strength is his tremendous power. Even B-Hop admitted that the kid's got power. But that's all he's got. Against young, unexperienced and/or scared fighters his power will prevail. Not against Hopkins. The man fears nothing and he's probably the best schooled active fighter today. Kelly Pavlik and Tito Trinidad were monsters until they stepped in the ring with the Executioner.
