Jones was an athletic marvel and would have been too fast and too elusive for Mike Tyson at that stage. Mike was KO'd shortly after this by two fighters way below Jones' skill level to think otherwise. Tyson opted not to fight Roy during this time knowing he would not stand a chance and be embarrassed by a light heavyweight. One thing people do not realize is that Jones hurt Ruiz in his only heavyweight fight. Niko Valuev has not even managed to do that in 2 fights.

Mike was shot, but all he needed was 1 good punch to RJ's chin to end it.

No Doubt he Ko's Jones if he landed, but I just cannot see it happening due to the speed difference in the fighters in 2003. Just me , i guess.

          Great thread though and interresting.

Tyson Ko's Jones, he has to land 1 punch that's all.

The chances of him landing just one punch is quite high, not saying Jones is easy to hit, he aint but 1 punch!

Jones at HW used his jab. i doubt Mike would be able to get inside Jones and land a big shot, Ruiz tried it but couldnt. in 2003 Jones takes it. Prime Mike might have been diferent

Yeah remember reading a old KO magazine interview with Jones, just after he'd beat Ruiz and he said he wanted 50 millon dollars for lewis and a 100 million for tyson which no promoter was willing to offer. Would of been a interesting fight in 2003 as mike was really near the end of his carrer, and Roy did look brillant against Ruiz, would of fancied jones skill, speed, fitness to be to much for Mike but who knows Tyson mat of tested roy's chin!
