lacy - a truly overhyped contender, who had beaten nobody before, or after calzaghe
kessler - a good fighter, but with no significant names on his resume, before or after calzaghe
hopkins - one of the greatest MW's of all time... only he was 43 when they fought, and at LHW
Jones - This one isnt over yet, but lets assume he beats Roy.. One of the best multi-divisional champs... only hes 2 months shy of 40, and has lost 3 of his last 6, 2 by knockout... and hasnt beaten a truly elite fighter since Tarver I in 2004, almost 5 years ago.

Thats too many if's for me....

There's always another opponent for EVERYONE. Calzaghe doesn't have to fight them, he can retire and waltz into the Hall of Fame. But if he's not happy citing Lacy & Kessler over and over again (one guy who will never sniff the Hall and another who has done nothing to get anything but a visitor's pass) then yeah, a Dawson would be nice.

I feel you actually respect Joe more than you're letting on. You are wanting to like him, but it's "not cool" to like Joe.

As for Dawson & Pavlik...

Joe is far too skilled to lose to Pavlik. In terms of technique, they are leauges apart. Joe also has the kind of chin that wouldn't be affected by his shots. If they do fight, Kelly should be grateful to get a free boxing tutorial from Joe.
