It was ok, imo. I could see how it was stopped when he stummbled into the corner, but it seemed like Valdez was fine. Valdez showed a good jab, but Hasegawa was pretty much just waiting for the counter.

He got it, with the left to the temple and it put Valdez down. Good fight it seemed.

here is only the second round of the Valdez fight. I wish they put round 1 as well. Valdez was doing a good job leading to the knockdown... IMO I thought the fight was stop to early..

But I will let you guys decide for yourselves.
      early stoppage imo

I've seen plenty of quicker stoppages.

If Valdez hadn't stummbled in the corner, then it would have been awful. I mean, he should have let it go on, but I can see why he stopped it.

I'm kind of with you on that. In the post-fight interview in the ring, he said that he found himself awkward just because his opponent is a taller southpaw. Mijares is not so tall as Valdez though. It's not that Hasegawa completely adjusted to a southpaw fighter, but that he didn't miss the opportunity to hit Valdez. Dude, I think Mijares would decision Hasegawa should they fight now, but Hasegawa would sure give him a hard time.

I had no problem with that stoppage, but after seeing the replay, I thought that would have been fine if the fight had dragged on a little bit longer. Hasegawa himself said that he would like the fight to continue since he had a lot more skills to try against a southpaw. Be that as it may, that was a nice fight to watch.

yeah, that was probably what prompted him to stop it.

In no way shape or form was this a gift for Larios. I wouldn't say Aoh easily took the first rounds, though he did appear to win them, and the 4th was certainly his.

The score was tied going into the 9th (one judge had it for Aoh, one for Larios, and one 75-75).

Larios took the 9th,10th and 12th decisively. The kid wasn't ready yet and Larios was too well conditioned. The late rounds told..

ElGran - damian5000 is very right. The scores that were opend at the start of the 9th round were 76-74 in favor of Larios, 76-74 in favor of Aoh and even at 75-75, with one point deduction on Aoh's part for the accidental head clashes which caused Larios to bleed on his right eye. Still, at the beginning of the 9th, the momentum of the battle favored Larios. It was a winnable bout for both fighters, but it was Larios who got himself into gear.

Larios was obviously hurt from the knockdown, and he wobbled a few more times in the follwoing rounds. That was a combination of a well timed left counter and the right hook that hit Larios in the temple and sent him into the canvas. He managed to get up at the count of 9. Supposing that I had been the referee, I would have called the halt to the fight if Aoh fired a flurry of punches. But the bell rang there. It was Aoh's youth that allowed Larios to survive. All Aoh needed to do was keep throwing punches, but it seemed he was determined to punch Larios' lights out with his counter. Larios knew how to impress the judges AND prevent Aoh from firing. That, I'd say, is championship experience. Larios had it. Aoh did not.
