RJJ: It took almost 3 years to get my body right

"I wanted to fight Mike Tyson. I should have quit for awhile but I knew people loved to see me.

I didn't prepare right so it didn't go right. My body just didn't react when I went back down to 175. I made a sacrifice to win the heavy weight title. If the price was to get knocked out it was worth it.

It was very difficult to figure out. It took almost three years to get my body right after fighting at heavy weight.

But I feel different now. My body has adjusted again. When I come into the boxing ring the people know they're going to see something they've never seen. He ain't never seen anyone like me."

Dude should be fine now. Tito was past it but fought well enough that Roy should get some props for that win. He looked strong and should be fine conditioning wise.

I thought Roy just looked ok against tito. I thought tito looked flat enough to retire for the last time. I think that in order for Roy to win this fight that he has to drop his fearof geting hit and let his hands go. I think that if he were to do that he could get Joe out of there within 8. However, I think it all depends on whether or not Roy feels like joe can hurt him. And further more if Joe Can indeed hurt him then that should be Roy's final cue to hang it up. NO disrespect meant to Joe but he is a volume punishment guy. not someone who hurts you with big punches.

Don't forget he arm was truly ****ed against Tito, you could see the muscle bulging. To dominate with that makes it more impressive.

I accept Roy's past prime but there's some real validity in this article. There not that far apart age wise, they've not been in loads of wars, and Roy is just starting to get it together pysically and mentally.

Still got Joe by UD though. Joe in the same article, says he under estimated Hopkins but won't with Roy.

That's one of the reasons I'm picking Roy by decision, the other is the fight will have jingoistic New York area American boxing judges.

What a coincidence that three years came around just in time for this fight. I think Roy means it took him three years to realize he could no longer get away with the **** he used to get away with; ie bad habits, not training, etc.

Great post. I already knew all that, but it's good to hear Roy say it directly in one statement. Usually he gives up that info a shard at a time.
