How does Don King screw fighters over?

I mean if it says in your contract that you'll be paid like lets say 10 million dollars, he has to pay the fighter 10 million dollars.

How does he screw fighters over?

It not that easy, like my dog Larry said, he puts bs fees in there and countless other crap to make him rich, honestly the only fighter I dont think he completely screwed was Trinidad and Chavez

He sometimes adds clauses to the contract that takes away a fighters' money, he makes fighters take on his son as their manager, I think Carl King gets 25% of the purse, which goes to Don King. There are more, but those are the things that I thought of off the top of my head.

someone can only steal from you if you let them.

I dont believe Don actually "steals" from fighters. It's more about the fighter not knowing the true amount of revenue available in a fight, and agreeing to smaller purses based on misinformation. For example, lets say HBO is offering say $2 million for a fight, and the opponent wants $300,000. Don is likely to tell the fighter that HBO is offering $1.5 million, and the opponent wants $500,000. Then Don keeps the change.

The key to all the other stuff though is look at whats in the contract. Dont sign a contract where the promoter has any say about management. Dont sign a contract where the promoter has any say about the trainer. Dont sign a contract with excessive percentages that go back to the promoter for purse bids.

Like I said, someone can only steal from you if you let them. And Don doesnt have an exclusive on behavior like that. They all do it.
