Well Cotto's jab isn't just a jab. He throws a very, very hard left jab, so that skews the power punch numbers a little.

But Margo threw more, and some of those misses were effective misses. It's not always about efficiency, Marg controlled the pace of the fight because of his workrate. Cotto lost his legs because he knew Marg was coming, and Cotto may have dodged many punches but the effort he had to expend in order to do that reared its head later in the fight. Like Earner said, that's his MO, and it worked great for him. He just outwilled Cotto, there's really no other way to put it.

That being said, Cotto didn't fight bad, it was just Margarito's night, he was the better man on July 26th. Hopefully the rematch is just as good of a fight because I haven't seen such a high profile match be that exciting in a while.

Not really surprised. Cotto is a better boxer than Margarito and pretty much everyone realizes it. Cotto was just as powerful as Margarito in that fight but it all boils down to Margarito is able to take the punches better. If Cotto stays off the ropes he can out box and beat Margarito. It will be tough since Margarito is much bigger than Cotto but a great fighter like Cotto can get it done.

That's about what I expected. It really doesn't matter though. I figured it would favor Cotto slightly, but that obviously had nothing to do with how it ended.

                Cotto's numbers are fucking AMAZING!...

Margarito out-hustled miguel Cotto with activity..

Cotto needs to focus on how to slow that activity down some..but I'm confident he'll take the rematch..

The numbers will look the same and Cotto should win comfortably..IMO..

Rogelio why don't you add in say even 50% of Cotto's jabs as power punches cause thats what they are now what are those oh so important power punch numbers? look Margarito is a tough SOB who obviously can take pretty good shot or 300, that said neither guy's career will be extended much longer by taking the kinda punches they took on that night. In fact I might venture to say that unil we see both guys fight again we wont know if that very brutal fight stripped away confidence, possibly caused serious physical or neurological damage slowing them down and tarnishing the fighter and person they are.

I think it was the 9th when the dumb**** said, "Margarito hasn't landed anything significant for a couple of rounds now".

Ever think that he couldn't stay off the ropes because Tony wouldn't let him? People keep saying, "if Cotto boxes more next time".

                      He already tried that.

"if Cotto goes to the body more next time"

                      Tried that too.

                      Cotto never beats Tony, ever.

Miguel is just too small for that type of swarming action.
