In the last interview I saw of Joe Frazier he wished Ali a good birthday and jokingly said that he won all three fights.
1978
He wasn't much of a man with words he let his fist do the talking.Frazier wasn't a bad talker but he was no Ali. He did get to Ali a couple of times and Ali got to him.Didnt he have a later career as a comiedain or something?

I think he tried his hand at being a singer for awhile....don't remember for sure. I may be confusing him with another Joe (some of you guys that are my age might even know which Joe I'm talking about...here's a hint. Every time I buy eggs I think of him).Comment

Joe is jealous because he came so close to getting the better of the GOAT in their series, but he couldnt pull it off.
Hell if Ali didnt take off those three and a half years Joe never woulda worn a world championship a day in his life.Comment

I sat with Joe in his office at his gym for about 45 minutes in 2005 and he seemed to like Ali...talked about him well, told me they were together recently at a function. He also had several recent pics of himself and Ali together on his desk and on the wall. I got the impression he was cooler with Ali than at any time since they last fought in 1975
John,
Sometime between the filming of "Champions Forever" (1989) and 2005, Joe said in an interview that he finally forgave Ali for all the was said and he was very sincere when he said it. I want to say that it was sometime after 2002 or so. I also wish I could cite the source, but I remember reading about it in one of the boxing mags after Joe had proclaimed the slate was clean. I want to say that it was on the "Best Damn Sports Show", but I'm not 100% sure. I remember him saying that he flet bad for Ali's condition now, instead of using Ali's condition vs his own to show who took the worse beatings.
The 1970's are my personal favorite era of heavyweights, and Frazier, Foreman & Ali are 3 of my all time favorite fighters. I would be great if they could wind down their lives in peace with each other. They made for some of the greatest memories ever in our great sport.Comment
